Every year on April 22, Earth Day marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970.

The Earth Day 2022 Theme is Invest In Our Planet.

The Interreg IPA Romania-Serbia 2021-2027 Programme is committed to investing in our planet, as we strongly believe that the health of our planet has a direct influence on our daily lives, our health and overall happiness.

The architecture of the 2021-2027 Programme includes, as one of its priorities, environmental protection and risk management, with an ambitious allocation of 35% of the Programme funds.

We are committed to investing in:

• Enhancing protection and preservation of nature, biodiversity and green infrastructure, including in urban areas, and reducing all forms of pollution;
• Promoting renewable energy in accordance with Directive (EU) 2018/2001, including the sustainability criteria, set out therein;
• Promoting energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions;
• Promoting climate change adaptation and disaster risk prevention and resilience, taking eco-system based approaches into account.

As environmental responsibility is essential for sustainable development, all types of actions to be financed by our future Programme are compliant with DNSH principle (Do No Significant Harm).
