Cross-border projects between Romania and Serbia that obtained special results were awarded within the Final conferences of the Romania – Republic of Serbia IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme held in Resita (Romania, on the 10th of October 2016) and Vrsac (Serbia, on the 12th of October 2016).
Under the section Maximum absorption rate for a project the following projects were awarded, one in each event: ”Waste selective collection to the EU level” (implemented by Sisesti Local Council, Mehedinti County Council from Romania and Mosna Townhall from Serbia) and ”Increasing educational, social, and cultural exchanges and recognizing similarities and differences among young people” (implemented by Grammar School “Borislav Petrov Braca” Vrsac in partnership with Dositej Obradovic” Highschool from Timisoara, ”Constantin Diaconovici Loga” National College from Timisoara and ”Mladost” School from Vrsac).
Under the section Social involvement the following projects were awarded: “Youth Essentials” (implemented by Bethany Social Services Foundation Timisoara in partnership with “Duga” Citizens Association from Ada, Serbia, the Timis County Police Inspectorate and the Poverty Reduction Committee from Ada Municipality in Serbia) and “Not so different” (implemented by Pre-School Institute Zrenjanin and the Rainbow Association Moldova Noua).
Under the section Community Health, the following projects were awarded: “Development of Cross-border telediagnostic and telecomunication network in health institutions”, also awarded by the European Commission in 2014 (implemented by General Hospital Vrsac in partnership with Emergency County Hospital Resita and Health Center Zitiste) and “Health without borders” (implemented by General Hospital Pozarevac, together with Emergency General Hospital Resita).
In order to highlight the impact of cross-border projects financed under the Programme and the relevance of the Romania-Serbia cross-border cooperation, the photo exhibition “Sharing borders, growing closer!” was showcased.
The events were attended by representatives of central and regional public administration from Romania and Serbia and were organized by the Management Authority from Romania (Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration) and the National Authority from Serbia (Serbian European Integration Office), together with the Joint Technical Secretariat of the Programme based in RO CBC Timisoara.
The purpose of the conferences was to disseminate the results obtained following the implementation of the projects financed under the Romania-Republic of Serbia IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme.
