The eighth meeting of the Joint Monitoring Committee of the Interreg-IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Romania-Serbia Programme

On Tuesday, December 14, the eighth meeting of the Joint Monitoring Committee (JMC) of the Interreg IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Romania-Serbia Programme 2014-2020 took place in an online format.

During this meeting, the JMC members debated about topics related to the implementation of the current programme and the next funding period, as follows:

  • State of play of the financed projects` implementation and the use of the financial savings so far;
  • State of play of the communication and promotion activities of the Programme;
  • State of play of the measures included in the Action Plan, as a follow-up of the programme evaluations;
  • State of play of the programming process for the 2021-2027 period.

During the discussions, the Managing Authority representatives highlighted the fact that at programme level the blockages that could have been generated by the Covid-19 pandemic were avoided. Therefore, the Programme exceeded the estimated indicators for 2021 financial year regarding the amounts requested from the European Commission, 15.2 million euros were requested, also exceeding the financial targets for next year.

At the present time, 79 projects have been contracted under the Interreg-IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Romania-Serbia Programme, valuing € 72.4 million (EU funds) that represent 96.6% of the Programme budget. The contracting process will continue in 2022 by using the amounts resulting from the financial savings generated by the projects.

The payments granted to the beneficiaries of the Programme are currently worth € 52.7 million, representing 70.36% of the Programme total budget.
